Growing up in Hollywood is hard, particularly if you happen to be the look-a-like children of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.
But, alas, even celebrity kids are susceptible
to the fickle ways of the teenage mind.
These are the things in Jaden and Willow Smith’s lives that make no sense.
We’re looking at some Weird Things about Jaden and Willow Smith
(But really, would you expect anything less?)
Jaden’s entire Twitter
For those of you who don’t cruise the 280-character musings of the internet-at-large, you’re missing out on the gems that are Willow and Jaden Smith’s Twitter accounts.
Willow once tweeted:
“ANYTHING that I EVER do is geared towards the evolution and vibrational elevation of this planet through the inspiration of individuals.”
“It was beautiful by association, but also
beautiful because of what I saw within myself”
Deep stuff.
But over the years, it’s Jaden who’s really honed his tweet aesthetic.
Some of his greatest hits include,
“How Can
Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren’t Real”
and
“What Is The Definition Of “Light”?”
But perhaps there’s a method to Jaden’s social
media madness.
After all, he once tweeted,
“I Don’t Want You Guys To Think Because I Was Born In America That I Speak And Abide By English Grammar. I Speak Jaden, Indefinitely.”
“It’s like…(insanity)…that’s exactly what
it sounds like”
Sounds like that’s about as much explanation
as we’re gonna get, for what’s going on there.
The definition of “black tie affair”
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s 2014 wedding was an opulent affair in Florence, Italy, complete with a performance by Andrea Bocelli, and a supremely fashionable guest list.
Which is why it was a bold choice for Jaden to show up in an all-white Batman costume.
“I just kinda woke up one day, like in a Batman costume.
And it felt right”
When asked about it, Jaden told GQ,
“I wore the Batman suit to heighten my experience at the wedding.
I felt as though I needed to protect everyone there and needed to have the proper gear to do so.”
“I feel like every Batman suit is like just another day in the life that could be your outfit, depending on how hard you’re willing to go for the vision”
Will and Jada’s parenting style
Much of Jaden and Willow’s wackiness has been attributed to the seemingly “relaxed” parenting style of Will and Jada.
“At the core, I blame his mother”
“So I wanted to be more disciplined with the
kids, and she had a different point of view”
The perception of their chill upbringing came
largely from Will, who told E! News in 2013,
“We don’t do punishment. The way that we deal with our kids is, they are responsible for their lives.
You can do anything you want as long as you can explain to me why that was the right thing to do for your life.” “And even though I see how it might have hurt
you, it’s what I knew.
Yeah”
This philosophy sparked backlash, presumably
because it was piled onto previous comments
by Will, including one in 2012 when he told Parade he was letting a then-12-year-old Willow be quote,
“in control of her body.”
“It’s a beautiful thing though.
It’s a beautiful thing”
But Will also has a sense of humor about things, telling the BBC in 2016,
“Yeah, I think it may have been a mistake.
I think we may have gone too far.”“My whole life has been a lie”
That infamous interview
Though they’d grown increasingly eclectic
in the years leading up to it, Willow and Jaden’s now-infamous 2014 T Magazine interview basically became ground zero for any subsequent discussion of their quirkiness. It was the one where they referenced
“holographic realities,” the duality of the mind, and “prana energy.”
They also said they prefer to read their own
novels and listen to their own music when they’re not studying quantum physics or “ancient texts” and manipulating time.
“There are more synapses nerve connections
in your brain than there are stars in the galaxy.
My God.”
Not surprisingly, that interview became a viral sensation.
But it looks like the joke might have been
on us.
Jaden’s grand plan
About a year after the T Magazine interview,
Jaden sat down with GQ to reveal he was just
trolling everyone, saying he likes to make nutty statements, and then sit back and watch the public’s reaction.
“Strawberries aren’t berries, but bananas are and so are watermelons and avocados.
How”
But even when he’s attempted to be candid about his ruse, Jaden still comes off sounding
like a conspiracy theorist.
He told the mag,
“it’s an honor, actually, for people to think I’m crazy.
They thought Galileo was crazy, too, you know
what I’m saying?I don’t think I’m as revolutionary as Galileo, but I don’t think I’m not as revolutionary as Galileo.”
“Who even is Galileo”
Managing their business By his own admission, Jaden plans on skirting the public eye sometime soon, but for now, he seems busier than ever.
In 2017, he dropped his album, SYRE, a three-year-long endeavor that he described to Billboard as…
“the story of me coming to be a young adult.”
“I was a vampire from nine until twelve”
He also said he plans on making a feature film about the album, as well as releasing an international version that will have his songs recorded into different languages.
We are not done yet with some Weird Things about Jaden and Willow Smith
In November 2018, Jaden dropped a free mixtape that hit 10 million streams in just three days.
“The ones who know, know.
But the ones who don’t know, just don’t believe, know what I’m saying?”
On top of that, Variety reported Jaden’s managing a partnership between his and Willow’s art collective, MSFTS, with Jay Z’s Roc Nation, and growing an eco-friendly water business with his dad, according to the Chicago Tribune.
“This is truly an honor for me to be here accepting this award, and for you to give this award to me”
He’s also keeping busy as the face of high-profile fashion campaigns, and continues to book movie and TV gigs.
Call us crazy, but this guy does not seem
to be making moves towards winding down his
celebrity status.
